These journal prompts aren’t like other journal prompts. They don’t do too much. They do just enough. They’re very demure, very mindful.
If you’ve been on TikTok lately, you’ve probably seen people describe things as “very demure, very mindful, very cutesy.” Maybe you’ve seen Jools Lebron herself, the creator behind this viral trend.
It all started when Jools described her everyday makeup as “very demure, very mindful” in a TikTok that’s since garnered over 3.9 million likes, 17,400 comments, and 594,200 shares (see below). She was calling attention to her makeup, yeah, but mainly to how she presents herself and interacts with the world.
In a recent interview, Jools confirmed that being “very demure, very mindful, very cutesy” is rooted in self-confidence.
Since Jools’s TikTok went viral, the internet has done what the internet does best: expand on a trend. This trend has inspired content that’s heartfelt, vulnerable, educational, funny, and even satirical. Here’s one of my personal faves:
But no matter what life this trend takes on the internet, my favorite definition of “very demure, very mindful” is still the original version: being so confident and proud of yourself that you don’t have to step on other’s toes or overcompensate. That resonates deeply with me.
Today I wanted to share some journal prompts that I think can help us tap what it means to be “very demure, very mindful.” As I have shared previously, journaling is one of my favorite rituals. Even though I have my daily journaling routine (inspired by the demure, mindful, and cutesy Emma Watson), I love to use prompts like these regularly to create moments of reflection.
