10 Best Kindle Unlimited Romance Books for Beginners (2025)

If you want to read more, then Kindle Unlimited is a must-have. Kindle Unlimited (or KU) is a monthly subscription by Amazon that gives you access to millions of books. Most importantly, it’s overflowing with amazing romance novels. Here is a list of the 10 best Kindle Unlimited romance books for beginners who are new to reading and/or the romance genre.

What makes a book a romance novel?

Before we jump in, though, I’d like to clarify what characterizes a romance novel.

A book is a romance novel if it focuses on a couple, how they fall in love, and how they make their relationship work. Also, the story must have a happily ever after.

Now, that’s not to say romance novels don’t have relatable characters, emotional depth, captivating plots, or shocking twists and turns.

It’s easy to dismiss romance novels as frivolous or smutty. And there certainly are lighthearted romance books and extra spicy ones too, and there’s nothing wrong with those!

But more often than not, romance novels are stories about flawed people working hard to heal in order to build a life together.

I’m a certified bookworm, and some of the most well-rounded characters and shocking plot twists I’ve read have been in romance novels. In fact, many of these titles are on my list 10 best Kindle Unlimited romance books for beginners!

Will I like romance books?

You might be wondering if you’ll like romance books.

I’d say you will if:

  • You’re obsessed with dating shows and/or romantic comedies
  • You root for people in love
  • Knowing there’ll be a happily ever after brings you comfort
  • You like to hear about people overcoming internal and external obstacles
  • Connection makes you happy
  • You enjoy intimacy that’s rooted in connection

If this sounds like you, keep scrolling for my Kindle Unlimited romance books recommendations.

Are these books spicy?

Yes. All the books on this list are spicy in some way, shape, or form.

Intimacy is a big part (no pun intended) of the romance genre because it plays a major role in real-life relationships.

To me, it makes sense for couples in romance books to act on their chemistry and explore their sexuality as they build their connection.

That said, you can still enjoy romance books while skipping the spicy chapters. While these scenes are meant to enhance the story, they are rarely critical to the plot.

Bourbon & Secrets by Victoria Wilder

Series: The Bourbon Boys

Book 2 of 3

  • Book 1: Bourbon & Lies
  • Book 3: Bourbon & Proof (Releasing on June 6, 2025)

Faye, a burlesque dancer who moonlights as a private investigator, returns to her hometown of Fiasco, KY to investigate a mark.

She immediately runs into Lincoln, the town’s sexiest widower and single dad… whom she has a dark history with.

They soon realize that they’ve misread each other, and that they’re more alike than they thought. Their chemistry is off the charts, and this story is jam-packed with suspense.

I think it’s a great book for anyone getting into reading because it’s both a romance and a crime novel of sorts. I’m so happy I read it in time to add it to this list of Kindle Unlimited romance books!

Tropes:

  • Small town romance
  • Enemies to lovers
  • Romantic suspense
  • Single dad

The Wingman by Stephanie Archer

Series: Vancouver Storm

Book 3 of 4

  • Book 1: Behind the Net

Hayden has always been in love with his best friend Darcy, but she’s been in a long-term relationship with his other best friend, Kit, for years… until now.

When Darcy and Kit break up, she finds refuge in Hayden’s apartment. To make things harder for Hayden (pun intended), Darcy is stressed about re-entering the dating scene so she asks him for help.

As they practice flirting, dating, and intimacy while living together, the lines blur and a swoon-worthy romance emerges.

What makes this a wonderful read is that Hayden and Darcy have a genuine friendship that is the sweetest foundation for their steamy relationship. The banter and chemistry make this a fantastic Kindle Unlimited romance book!

Tropes:

  • Relationship coach
  • Friends to lovers
  • Roommates to lovers
  • Cinnamon roll MMC
  • Hockey romance

Wild Eyes by Elsie Silver

Series: Rose Hill

Book 2 of 3

  • Book 3: Wild Side (Releasing on March 4, 2025)

Country music superstar, Skylar, escapes to the small town of Rose Hill to get away from the pressures of her music career and regain her sense of self.

She immediately runs into sexy single dad, Weston (West) in one of the funniest meet-cutes I’ve ever read.

She ends up living on West’s property as she works on a new album and reconnects with her creativity.

She’s surprised to find belonging, comfort, and a sense of safety with him and his two kids.

West finds that his celebrity crush is a flawed but courageous woman he simply can’t stay away from.

This book is great for anyone who’s ever wondered what it’s like to be a female celebrity.

Tropes:

  • Small town romance
  • Celebrity FMC x small town MMC
  • Forced proximity
  • Single dad

Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan

Series: Skyland

Book 1 of 3

  • Book 2: This Could Be Us
  • Book 3: Can’t Get Enough (Release on May 13, 2025)

Yasmen and Josiah thought they’d be together forever, but a series of tragic events drove them apart.

Despite their marriage crumbling, they work hard to co-parent their kids and run their successful business together.

As they both try to move on in their personal lives, they find themselves gravitating back to each other.

Their spark is undeniable, but the question remains: have they healed enough as individuals to give their relationship a fighting chance, or has the opportunity passed?

This book paints a raw and believable picture of two people processing loss and grief. It’s one of the most emotional books I’ve EVER read. Please check the content warnings, and be prepared to cry if you do pick this book up. But I promise it’s so worth it in the end!

I can’t believe it’s a Kindle Unlimited romance book – it’s that good!

Tropes:

  • Second chance romance
  • Troubled marriage
  • One bed trope

Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez

Standalone (although there are cameos from characters in Abby’s other works)

Emma and Justin are convinced that they’re “cursed” to see every person they date find their soulmate right after breaking up.

They bond over this in a Reddit thread and agree the key to breaking their curses is to fake date each other.

Emma, who’s a traveling nurse, takes an assignment in Minnesota (where Justin lives) to give this crazy idea a chance.

They begin their summer fling and immediately grow close. But real life starts to encroach on their lighthearted arrangement: Emma’s toxic mother comes to town and turns things upside down, and Justin reveals he’s taking custody of his younger siblings at the end of the summer.

They’re forced to face their real-life problems while also figuring out if real life is something they can face together.

Tropes:

  • Fake Dating
  • Friends to Lovers

Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score

Series: Knockemout

Book 1 of 3

  • Book 2: Things We Hide From The Light
  • Book 3: Things We Left Behind

Naomi runs away from her wedding to come to her identical twin sister’s aid only to find that her sister has made a mess of things, skipped town, and abandoned her daughter. To make matters worse, people in town think Naomi’s her sister and take out their frustration on her.

Ultimately, Naomi chooses to stay in Knockemout to take custody of her niece Waylay. She finds herself having to rebuild her life.

If only her path would stop crossing with sexy but grouchy business owner Knox. Knox is a loner who’d rather not welcome mess into his life, and Naomi is in the middle of a big mess. Still, he finds himself helping her.

This includes fake dating her, which leads to… more. As their relationship evolves into something deeper, can they survive the drama that Naomi’s twin sister will inevitably bring to their doorstep?

This romance book is a TikTok darling for good reason. I love knowing it’s available on Kindle Unlimited for free.

Tropes:

  • Small Town Romance
  • Grumpy x Sunshine
  • Runaway Bride
  • Forced Proximity
  • Fake Dating
  • “Touch her, and I’ll kill you” vibes

Reckless by Elsie Silver

Series: Chestnut Springs

Book 4 of 5

  • Book 1: Flawless
  • Book 2: Heartless
  • Book 3: Powerless
  • Book 5: Hopeless

THIS. BOOK. *squeals*

Winter is an ice queen. She’s a tough ER doctor who’s rebuilding her life after her marriage imploded (seriously – her ex is a predatory jerk).

Theo is a rowdy and reckless bull rider who lives life wholeheartedly… and is able to get under Winter’s skin.

After too many tequila shots, Winter agrees to a one-night stand with Theo thinking she’d just walk away with some hot memories. Instead, she ends up pregnant with his baby.

Some miscommunication keeps them apart, but once Theo learns they share a daughter, he steps up as a dad and partner.

This book is equal parts fun, heart-wrenching, and sexy.

The chemistry between Theo and Winter is explosive and, while they take you on an emotional roller coaster, it’s well worth it to see them grow together in the end.

One of the best Kindle Unlimited romance books I’ve EVER read!

Tropes

  • One Night Stand
  • Secret Baby
  • Single Mother
  • Black Cat x Golden Retriever
  • Cinnamon Roll MMC

Ripple Effect by Ki Stephens

Series: Coastal University

Book 3:

  • Book 1: Spring Tide
  • Book 2: Fault Line

Daisy’s looking forward to rebuilding her life at Coastal University when she meets Elio.

Elio is an introvert who has self-isolated and is feeling overwhelmed, while Daisy is an optimistic extrovert who is looking forward to being close to the ocean again.

Soon after they begin spending time together, Elio has a medical emergency. Daisy chooses to help him recover and moves in with Elio.

The two find themselves growing closer. They patiently help each other heal as their friendship blossoms into more.

This story is the epitome of tender. These characters are gentle with each other, so it’s a slow burn, but burn it does.

It’s perfect for people looking for a quiet romance.

Tropes:

  • Black Cat x Golden Retriever
  • Forced Proximity
  • One Bed Trope
  • College Romance

Juniper Hill by Devney Perry

Series: The Edens

Book 2 of 6

  • Book 1: Indigo Ridge
  • Book 3: Garnet Flats
  • Book 4: Jasper Vale
  • Book 5: Crimson River
  • Book 6: Sable Peak

Memphis escapes to Quincy, MO with her newborn baby. She’s willing to leave her glamorous life behind if it means keeping her son safe.

She finds herself starting from scratch for the sake of staying off the grid (which is harder than it seems).

Knox is a successful (and sexy) chef, but he’s also Memphis’s landlord. He gets the feeling she’s hiding something and tries to keep his distance.

But he can’t stay away. He finds himself stepping in to help Memphis and her son.

Memphis can’t deny that Knox is gorgeous, but she soon realizes that he’s also an incredible person.

Knox also realizes that there’s more to Memphis than he first assumed.

They begin growing closer and finding refuge in each other. <3

Tropes:

  • Small Town Romance
  • Single Mom
  • Forced Proximity
  • Found Family

Shadows of You by Catherine Cowles

Series: The Lost & Found Series

Book 4 of 5

  • Book 1: Whispers of You
  • Book 2: Echoes of You
  • Book 3: Glimmers of You
  • Book 5: Ashes of You

The last book on my list of best Kindle Unlimited romance books is a great one. Five stars!

Aspen and her daughter are in hiding. They live a quiet life off the grid and spend their free time tending to wounded animals on their farm.

Roan is a loner who is happy to spend his days in the forest working as a game warden.

Their paths cross when he’s called to Aspen’s property to tend to an injured deer. They think that’s the last they’ll see of each other, but they soon run into each other again.

Roan is drawn to Aspen and her daughter, and Aspen sees Roan for what he is: a good man who’s been hurt in the past and hasn’t fully recovered from his wounds.

When Aspen’s safety is threatened, Roan steps in to protect her and her daughter.

These two hyper-independent individuals start to warm up to each other despite their past hurts.

This book is as much a romance as it is a story of people healing together. It’s also a romantic suspense so it’s the best of all worlds.

Tropes:

  • Small Town Romance
  • Grumpy x Sunshine
  • Forced Proximity
  • Single Mom

Anyone can experience overwhelm, but there are uni Anyone can experience overwhelm, but there are unique factors that make introverts more susceptible to overwhelm.

These include: overstimulation, energy hangovers, and the impact of extrovert bias.

As introverts, overwhelm can be a warning that our tank’s nearing empty or it can be a symptom of already being drained.

Overwhelm is a signal from our body to slow down and protect our energy.

As introverts in an extroverted world, it may feel like we have little to no control over what’s expected of us.

But you have more control than you think. You have control over your thoughts, choices, and habits.

As introverted people, we can overcome overwhelm without pushing through, doubling down, or pretending to be an extrovert.

The second frame says, "3 causes of introvert overwhelm" followed by summaries of the following three causes: Constant Overstimulation, Chronic Energy Hangovers, and Impact of Extrovert Bias.

The summaries are:

Constant Overstimulation: As introverted people, we are sensitive to external stimuli. We can only experience so much before it affects our mental, emotional, and physical well-being, making us susceptible to overwhelm.

Chronic Energy Hangovers: Introverts need time alone to recharge. When we’re unable to recharge, we experience energy hangovers which makes us more susceptible to overwhelm and/or making overwhelm worse.

Impact of Extrovert Bias: Society’s preference for extroverts can lead to negative self-perceptions which can lead to emotional overwhelm and/or behaviors that cause overstimulation, energy hangovers, and overwhelm.
If you’re introverted & overwhelmed right now, her If you’re introverted & overwhelmed right now, here’s what I’d like you to know as someone who's been there:

-What you’re feeling is real, but it’s not reality.
-Overwhelm feels all-consuming, but it’s not forever.
-You have more control than you think.

Let’s do one of these things together right now to help our bodies get out of fight-or-flight:

-Take three deep breaths.

-Set all apps (email, Slack, Teams, etc.) to “Do not disturb.”
-Think of one thing you can do for fun/joy.

Overwhelm is not forever.
