If you want to read more, then Kindle Unlimited is a must-have. Kindle Unlimited (or KU) is a monthly subscription by Amazon that gives you access to millions of books. Most importantly, it’s overflowing with amazing romance novels. Here is a list of the 10 best Kindle Unlimited romance books for beginners who are new to reading and/or the romance genre.
What makes a book a romance novel?
Before we jump in, though, I’d like to clarify what characterizes a romance novel.
A book is a romance novel if it focuses on a couple, how they fall in love, and how they make their relationship work. Also, the story must have a happily ever after.
Now, that’s not to say romance novels don’t have relatable characters, emotional depth, captivating plots, or shocking twists and turns.
It’s easy to dismiss romance novels as frivolous or smutty. And there certainly are lighthearted romance books and extra spicy ones too, and there’s nothing wrong with those!
But more often than not, romance novels are stories about flawed people working hard to heal in order to build a life together.
I’m a certified bookworm, and some of the most well-rounded characters and shocking plot twists I’ve read have been in romance novels. In fact, many of these titles are on my list 10 best Kindle Unlimited romance books for beginners!
Will I like romance books?
You might be wondering if you’ll like romance books.
I’d say you will if:
- You’re obsessed with dating shows and/or romantic comedies
- You root for people in love
- Knowing there’ll be a happily ever after brings you comfort
- You like to hear about people overcoming internal and external obstacles
- Connection makes you happy
- You enjoy intimacy that’s rooted in connection
If this sounds like you, keep scrolling for my Kindle Unlimited romance books recommendations.
Are these books spicy?
Yes. All the books on this list are spicy in some way, shape, or form.
Intimacy is a big part (no pun intended) of the romance genre because it plays a major role in real-life relationships.
To me, it makes sense for couples in romance books to act on their chemistry and explore their sexuality as they build their connection.
That said, you can still enjoy romance books while skipping the spicy chapters. While these scenes are meant to enhance the story, they are rarely critical to the plot.

Reckless by Elsie Silver

Series: Chestnut Springs
THIS. BOOK. *squeals*
Winter is an ice queen. She’s a tough ER doctor who’s rebuilding her life after her marriage imploded (seriously – her ex is a predatory jerk).
Theo is a rowdy and reckless bull rider who lives life wholeheartedly… and is able to get under Winter’s skin.
After too many tequila shots, Winter agrees to a one-night stand with Theo thinking she’d just walk away with some hot memories. Instead, she ends up pregnant with his baby.
Some miscommunication keeps them apart, but once Theo learns they share a daughter, he steps up as a dad and partner.
This book is equal parts fun, heart-wrenching, and sexy.
The chemistry between Theo and Winter is explosive and, while they take you on an emotional roller coaster, it’s well worth it to see them grow together in the end.
One of the best Kindle Unlimited romance books I’ve EVER read!

Shadows of You by Catherine Cowles

Series: The Lost & Found Series
- Book 1: Whispers of You
- Book 2: Echoes of You
- Book 3: Glimmers of You
- Book 5: Ashes of You
The last book on my list of best Kindle Unlimited romance books is a great one. Five stars!
Aspen and her daughter are in hiding. They live a quiet life off the grid and spend their free time tending to wounded animals on their farm.
Roan is a loner who is happy to spend his days in the forest working as a game warden.
Their paths cross when he’s called to Aspen’s property to tend to an injured deer. They think that’s the last they’ll see of each other, but they soon run into each other again.
Roan is drawn to Aspen and her daughter, and Aspen sees Roan for what he is: a good man who’s been hurt in the past and hasn’t fully recovered from his wounds.
When Aspen’s safety is threatened, Roan steps in to protect her and her daughter.
These two hyper-independent individuals start to warm up to each other despite their past hurts.
This book is as much a romance as it is a story of people healing together. It’s also a romantic suspense so it’s the best of all worlds.
Tropes:
- Small Town Romance
- Grumpy x Sunshine
- Forced Proximity
- Single Mom
